"Rihanna" was inspired during a time when women were really standing up, standing out, and truly being themselves. I wanted to paint a strong, inspiring, and interestingly beautiful woman.

I recall one day seeing a women that had beautiful long blue hair and I absolutely loved it; she was daring, herself, beautiful, and everything else I could think of. I wanted the key component of this piece to be her bright blue hair and the knowledge that she just couldn't be bothered. As I developed the painting more, I added in more abstract elements and tried to push myself conceptually along the way. She is drawn to people and people are drawn to her, eager to learn more about this mysterious beauty.
