Oil and mixing mediums on canvas.

"Iridescent" was an experimental project. I'd begun to work with oil and I wanted to really play with the medium. The texture opportunities seemed endless so I wanted to use as many oil tubes as I could and dab huge globs of paint and build up the lake that way. It was fascinating, and that process helped me to conceptualize and intuitively grow the rest of the painting.

The rest of the painting came to me as I continued to push myself with the medium; using pouring mediums and palate knives to get the results I was looking for. Iridescent probes mystery and a darkness, yet also gives viewers inspiration and an inkling of positivity while moving through the painting.
